Action: Adopt Life’s Essential 8
Get active: Kids should have 60mins of play each day. Adults need 2.5hrs of moderate physical activity or 75mins of vigorous activity per week
Eat better: Limit sugary drinks and alcohol, limit fatty foods, watch portions, enjoy lots of fruits and veggies
No smoking: Cigarette smokers have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease
Manage weight: Maintain a healthy BI
Manage blood pressure: The optimal blood pressure is less than 120/8- mmHg
Control cholesterol: HDL is known as your ‘good’ cholesterol, LDL is known as your ‘bad’ cholesterol
Reduce blood sugar: Over time, high levels of blood sugar can damage your heart, kidneys, eyes, etc
Get healthy sleep: Adults need 7-9 hrs of sleep/day. Children ages 5yrs and younger need 10-16hrs/day; Children ages 6-12yrs need 9-12hrs/day; Children ages 13-18yrs need 8-10hrs/day.
